This semester, students are required to write six stories from each of the following:

1. news conference, speech or some formal "live" event

2. feature of a place/personality profile/sports/travel piece

3. opinion/review/food story

4. campus story: event, issue, trend, people, etc.

5. human interest story

6. wildcard

Here are some ideas:

- Board meeting- Jan. 28

-  Smoke free forum - Feb. 18

-  Student voice forum - Jan. 28 and March 18

- Planetarium - Valentine's Day show called "Heavenly Love" from 8 to 9 p.m. on Feb. 14, and from 8:30 to 9:30 on Feb. 15 and 16.

- Planetarium is one of the most advanced in state, celebrating 25 anniversary

- Sports - Jan. 25 is the baseball home opener

- Student affairs remodel - Jan. 25 starts moving into a specialist format

- Forum on higher education - Jan. 29 with Dr. Ann McGee

- Decision Day - Feb. 15

- Dream Gala - Feb.16

Biggest fundraiser for school, giving away a car for raffle, benefits scholarships and programs at Seminole State

- FAFSA tips - Feb. 18 using retrieval system

- IT Hot Technologies expo - Feb.23

- Women's golf tournament over spring break at Magnolia course in sanford

- Admissions event - March 23 for private and home-school counselors and principles

- Music days - April 6 for student artists, judged by professionals

- Seminole County celebrates 100 years - April 20 at courthouse =

- First generation student scholarships

- QEP reading initiative
